‘Phineas and Ferb’s’ Perry the Platypus Inspires New Products, Games and Theme Park Experiences

At Disney/ABC Television Group, it’s especially exciting when one of our wonderfully unique TV show characters transforms into a beloved icon.

Phineas and Ferb’s Perry the Platypus is arguably the world’s most famous semi-aquatic, egg-laying mammal, and he has quickly become a beloved Disney character. He’s taking center stage in a special Disney Channel story arc in addition to new consumer products, games, and theme park adventures that span The Walt Disney Company.

This summer, the familiar phrase “Where’s Perry?” – echoed through every episode of Disney Channel’s Emmy Award-winning animated series – took on new meaning when the duo’s unassuming pet turned super-sleuth secret agent disappeared. He later made his return in the conclusion of a two-part cliffhanger.

Disney Channel created a one-of-a-kind celebration for the “Where’s Perry?” story arc with an on-air, off-air, online and on-the-road marketing campaign that has given kids and families unique opportunities to engage with Perry and the other Phineas and Ferb characters.

“Where’s Perry?” also provided new content to businesses across Disney. In response to Perry’s breakout success, Disney Consumer Products created a special branding program leveraging his iconic teal color that will be rolling out to retailers this fall.

Disney Publishing Worldwide (DPW) put together a whole new series of comics in support of Perry, while Disney Mobile Games developed a new Where’s My Perry? app that incorporates the game-play of the hit mobile game Where’s My Water? into the fun, high-stakes world of animal espionage with Perry’s alter ego, Agent P. The mobile game reached the number one spot in the US App Store in just two days and went on to reach the top spot in 36 markets around the world. At home, kids and families can also enjoy the furry little flatfoot’s most exciting adventures with Phineas and Ferb: The Perry Files on DVD and Digital. And this month, DPW launches an all-new Agent P and the Chaos-Inator app.

In addition, the super-sleuthing platypus has taken his adventures to Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida with Disney Phineas and Ferb: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure, an interactive experience where guests use a communicator to help Perry defeat his nemesis, Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Disney parks around the world are also incorporating the Phineas and Ferb characters into a variety of parks and attraction-specific merchandise, and a new line of Vinylmation figures.
