‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide

The ninth episode in the Skywalker Saga has risen to an impressive box office milestone, as yesterday Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker surpassed the $1 billion threshold at the global box office in its 28th day of release. Its $1.001 billion global cumulative total is comprised of $481.3 million domestic and $519.7 million international. This film is now the fifth Star Wars film to reach this milestone, as well as Disney’s seventh billion-dollar release of 2019.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opened on December 18 internationally and December 20 domestically to a $376.2 million global debut. Its $177.4 million domestic opening was the 12th biggest of all time, while internationally the film debuted with $198.8 million and was the No. 1 western film in nearly all markets.
