Rajat Jain Named Managing Director, The Walt Disney Company (India) And Vice President, Walt Disney Television International (India)

BURBANK, Calif., June 28, 2004 – Rajat Jain has joined The Walt Disney Company (India) Private Limited, as managing director, it was announced today by Andy Bird, president, Walt Disney International. Jain, a senior entertainment industry executive with extensive experience, was most recently executive vice president and business head for SET MAX at Sony Entertainment Television India Limited, will join Disney effective August 1st, 2004.

In addition, Jain will also assume the role of vice president, Walt Disney Television International (India), overseeing Disney television activities in India, it was announced today by Doug Miller, executive vice president and managing director, Walt Disney Television International (Asia Pacific). Jain will report to Miller in both roles.

Miller added, “Rajat is an outstanding and innovative executive who constantly finds new ways to grow successful businesses by providing great services and value to consumers, and we believe he is the right person to oversee Disney’s continued growth in India as we strive to become one of India’s leading providers of high quality family entertainment.”

Working in conjunction with Disney business unit leaders in the region, Jain will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing growth opportunities for Disney throughout India, and for targeting new businesses, expanding and increasing penetration of existing businesses, and leading the development of business and operations in this important market.

Prior to SET India, he has also worked at organizations like Telstra International in the Telecom sector, as well as Benckiser India and Hindustan Lever in FMCG through his total of seventeen years of working experience.

Jain received a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi and a post-graduate degree in Business Management from the premier Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, India. Jain is a native speaker of Hindi and Punjabi languages and is also fluent in English and Bengali.

Jain and his family will continue to be based in Mumbai, India.
