Disney News This Week: ‘Na’vi River Journey’ Coming to Pandora—The World of AVATAR, a New Teaser Trailer for ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ and Disney and ESPN Media Networks Lineup Coming to PlayStation Vue

Yesterday at D23 Expo Japan, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek shared details about Na’vi River Journey, a family-friendly attraction coming to Pandora—The World of AVATAR. On Na’vi River Journey, guests will sail down a mysterious river by canoe and experience the beauty of Pandora’s bioluminescent rainforest and the glowing plants and amazing creatures that live within.

A new teaser trailer for Alice Through the Looking Glass debuted on Thursday, November 5. The film reunites the all-star cast from the worldwide blockbuster phenomenon, including Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska and Helena Bonham Carter, along with the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall. Several new characters—Zanik Hightopp (Rhys Ifans), the Mad Hatter’s father and Time himself (Sacha Baron Cohen), a peculiar creature who is part human, part clock—are introduced in the film, which opens in theaters May 27, 2016.

This week Disney and ESPN Media Networks and Sony Network Entertainment International LLC (SNEI) announced an agreement to bring the Company’s media networks to PlayStation™Vue, the pioneering cloud-based live TV service. Disney will offer ESPN, ABC-owned local stations, Disney Channel, ABC Family and more networks on PlayStation Vue with the service’s unique features, including the ability to play multiple streams from one account and a powerful, intuitive user interface. In addition, local ABC affiliate stations will also have the opportunity to opt-in to the PlayStation Vue service with their live linear programming. Justin Connolly, executive vice president of Affiliate Sales & Marketing, Disney and ESPN Media Networks, said, “PlayStation Vue provides a unique way to engage with our content and an opportunity to reach a segment of viewers who want a different kind of television experience. The addition of our content to the PlayStation Vue platform will make the offering more compelling as consumers navigate their video options.”
