Disney Channel’s “Adventures in Babysitting” Highlights Network’s Winning Programming Strategy

The Friday, June 24, premiere of Disney Channel’s Adventures in Babysitting ranked as the No. 1 cable TV telecast of 2016 to-date among kids and tweens and the No. 1 cable TV movie of 2016 in Total Viewers, highlighting the network’s focus on serving consumer’s viewing habits.

Disney Channel offered the movie one week prior to its linear television premiere across its Video-On-Demand and Disney Channel app, consistent with its effort to provide programming whenever and wherever consumers want to view it. By making film available in advance, Adventures in Babysitting delivered an additional 3.1 million consumer engagements on Video-On-Demand and the Disney Channel app since June 17. For its U.S. premiere and seven encores, Adventures in Babysitting reached 15 million Total Viewers including nearly seven million Kids 6-14.

“We’re thrilled that so many ‘viewers’ enjoyed Adventures in Babysitting,” said Paul DeBenedittis, senior vice president, Programming and Content Strategy, Disney Channels. “The ratings are a testament to the movie, its talented cast, solid production and our commitment to consumers to provide them the opportunity to watch across all available platforms, whenever and wherever they decide.”

The 100th Disney Channel Original Movie, Adventures in Babysitting, stars popular actresses and recording artists Sabrina Carpenter (Girl Meets World) and Sofia Carson (Descendants), and is a re-imagined version of the 1980s film of the same name.
