Disney-Abc Television Group Receives 11 Golden Globe Award Nominations

Disney-ABC Television Group series received 11 Golden Globe nominations, including a Best Television Series, Drama nomination for last year’s winner, ”Grey’s Anatomy,” and a nod for Best Television Series, Comedy for the critically acclaimed freshman series ”Pushing Daisies.” All 11 nominations are for programming on ABC, the most for any broadcast network, with ABC Studios-produced series contributing seven of the 11 nominations.

In addition to the comedy series nomination, ”Pushing Daisies” stars Lee Pace and Anna Friel were honored with nominations for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Comedy and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical.

Christina Applegate, star of ”Samantha Who?,” the #1-rated new comedy of the season in both Total Viewers and A18-49, received recognition for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical. Last year’s winner, America Ferrera, received her second straight Best Actress nomination for ”Ugly Betty.”

Recent Emmy Award winner and previous Golden Globe winner Sally Field captured a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Drama for her role as matriarch Nora Walker on ”Brothers & Sisters.”

In the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television, Katherine Heigl of ”Grey’s Anatomy” and Rachel Griffiths of ”Brothers & Sisters” both scored nominations.

Previous Golden Globe winner Donald Sutherland received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television for his role as the patriarch of the Tripp family on ”Dirty Sexy Money,” joining William Shatner who received a nomination for his role as the ”one and only” Denny Crane on ”Boston Legal.”

The 2008 Golden Globe Awards will be presented Sunday, January 13, 2007 in Los Angeles.
