More Disney history than one could ever imagine, the latest on all things Disney and thousands of fans to share the experience with – count me in!
The D23 Expo is the ultimate Disney fan event, and as part of the team responsible for bringing it to life, I couldn’t be more excited to be at the Anaheim Convention Center this morning to see the doors open for the first time and fans fill the show floor.
Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger kicked off opening day of the D23 Expo with Chip ‘n’ Dale.
Once inside, fans can expect to see everything from exclusive presentations from The Walt Disney Studios to special performances by Disney Channel’s hottest stars. On the show floor, over-the-top pavilions will showcase the latest from Walt Disney Studios, Disney Interactive, Disney Parks, Disney Store, Disney Channel – and the list goes on!
I’m most excited to go behind the walls of Walt Disney Imagineering for an up-close look how the magic of Disney comes together during the development phase of a Disney parks project. Another highlight is the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony, where the company will pay tribute to the talented men and women who have made indelible contributions to the Disney legacy. The D23 Expo, now in its third year, welcomed 40,000 Disney fans last year and this year is set to be bigger than ever before (the event is already sold out on Saturday, August 10). As in previous Expos, D23 Expo 2013 will also showcase all of the latest stars in the Disney universe. In 2011, celebrity appearances included Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Garner, Dick Van Dyke, Kermit the Frog, Jason Segel, Anika Noni Rose and dozens more.
